Ram and Jackson's Road Trip - Summer 2002

After months of discussion and figuring out costs, time committments, and work schedules, Jackson and I finally decided to set out on a 5500 mile road trip starting in Houston, then going to Northern California and Southern California, and finally coming back home to Houston. (with many stops in between). Here's a short summary of where we went, what we did, and why treated wood should not be sold as firewood.

Week 1 - Houston, TX to Redwoods NP

Week 2 - Redwoods NP to Lancaster, CA

Week 3 - Lancaster, CA to Houston, TX

Cool Stats for our trip:
    Days: 25
    Miles: 6750
    Gas Stops: 23
    National Parks: 6
    Highest Elevation: 12000 ft
    Bears spotted: 2
    Marmots pelted: 1
    Rolls of Film: 4 1/2
    Patched Tires: 1

Lessons learned:
Do not look for an apartment on a holiday.
Do not try to cook with treated wood.
Do not camp at a place named for a dead horse.
    Gnats do bite.
Do not try to hike down into the Grand Canyon, unless you like the smell of mule crap.

I'm lost. Take me home.

Ok, so I wanted to know who's coming here, and some general stats about visitors. Since my server (UT's CE Dept.) has no facility for this, I got a free tracker. By downloading the little gif below, the tracker saves all sort of info, that your browser gives out to every site you visit anyway. You can click on the picture to see my tracking stats. I used to think this was some sort of invasion of privacy, but it's just a natural part of the web.
